FUNNIEST DOG OR CAT PHOTO CONTEST
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
 THE REAL CANADIAN SUPERSTORE AND EXTRA FOODS

  1. No purchase is necessary.  This contest is open to legal residents of Yukon, Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and residents of the Thunder Bay region of Ontario only.   Entrants must have reached the age of majority in their respective jurisdictions and have existing internet access and a valid e‑mail account/address. Official contest rules are available only at the website, www.superstore.ca and www.extrafoods.ca.  To enter, any contestant must log onto www.superstore.ca or www.extrafoods.ca and submit their dog or cat’s “funniest pet photo” on line.  The pet photo must be of a dog or cat. Online entries must be received between 12:00 am (EST) Saturday, March 4th, 2006 and 11:59 pm (EST) Friday, March 31st, 2006.   LIMIT: One entry per person, household and/or email account/address. More than one entry per website, person, household and/or email account/address shall void all entries from that person, household and/or email account/address person.

  2. There will be one (1) available prize to be won through www.superstore.ca and one (1) available prize to be won through www.extrafoods.ca. The prize will be a one (1) year supply of President’s Choice dog or cat food.  The prize shall be awarded in Loblaw gift cards in the total amount of $700.00 (“Prize”).  The winning Dog or Cat Photos will also be displayed on the respective winning websites: www.superstore.ca or www.extrafoods.ca at the real Canadian Superstore’s and Extra Foods’ sole discretion.

  3. The potential winning Dog or Cat Photo will be determined during the period between April 1, 2006 and May 15, 2006 by a selected group of judges, who may or may not be representatives or employees of the real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods. The criteria upon which Dog or Cat Photo is chosen as the potential winner is at the group of judges’ sole discretion and judgment.  Immediately after the determination of the potential winning Dog or Cat Photos, the selected entrants of the potential winning Dog or Cat Photo will be contacted by a representative of the real Canadian Superstore and/or Extra Foods by email at the account/address used to enter the contest, which must still be valid.  The real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods reserve the right to contact the potential winners by telephone.  The potential winners notification will occur no later than May 15th, 2006. The potential winner will have 7 business days after being contacted by email or telephone (“Contact Deadline”) to contact the real Canadian Superstore or Extra Foods representative by e-mail (or telephone) using the email address [or telephone number] provided.  If the potential winner complies with all the requirements of the rules and is declared a winner, he or she will be required to correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question without the aid of any mechanical, electronic or similar device. Upon answering the question correctly, the real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods will make arrangements for awarding the Prizes.  Should the potential winners not reply to the real Canadian Superstore or Extra Foods by e-mail or telephone by the end of the Contact Deadline, or the potential winners do not otherwise comply with the contest requirements and rules, that potential winners will be deemed to have forfeited any rights to the Prizes and the real Canadian Superstore or Extra Foods will have the right to select an alternate potential winner from among the remaining eligible entries and contact such persons in the manner provided above except that the alternative potential winner will be given a new Contact Deadline seven (7) business days after contact is made.  Before being declared a winner, a selected entry must be verified by the contest organizers.  The winner agrees to accept the Prize as awarded, and the Prize is not transferable or convertible to cash or credit. The real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods retain the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to make substitutions of equivalent kind or value in the event of the unavailability of any component of the Prize for any reason.  The decisions of the real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods on all issues relating to the contest will be final and binding on all entrants.  The winners will have until June 10th, 2006 to claim their Prize.

  4. Entries that are submitted from unauthorized sources as determined by the real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods will be disqualified.  The real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods and its affiliates assume no responsibility for late, lost, stolen, delayed, illegible, incomplete, or misdirected entry forms, or human error, or technical malfunctions, including but not limited to inability to access the website, lost, delayed or incorrect data transmission, interruption or failure, other electronic malfunctions, computer or telephone hardware or software failures, malfunctions or garbled transmissions.  The real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods and its affiliates are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, or injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in the contest or downloading any materials in relation to the contest.  Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the contest will result in disqualification.  Any such action may be in violation of civil and criminal laws, and the real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.  The real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods nor their affiliates, or their respective franchisees or advertising and promotional agencies or their respective agents, officers, directors, employees and representatives shall be responsible in any way for the use of or bear any liability whatsoever in any way attributable to an entrant’s participation in this contest or the Prizes awarded in this contest, including liability for any injury, loss or damages of any kind to persons, including death, and property.  Prior to delivery or pick-up of the Prizes, and in any event no later than June 10th, 2006, the potential winners will be required to sign and return a form satisfactory to the real Canadian Superstore and/or Extra Foods confirming compliance with the contest rules and acceptance of the Prize; permitting the real Canadian Superstore and/or Extra Foods and its affiliates and/or their respective franchisees to use the winner’s name, address, photograph and/or video image in any publicity and advertising without compensation, where legal; and releasing the real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods their affiliates and their respective franchisees and advertising and promotional agencies, and their respective agents, officers, directors, employees and representatives from any and all liability, damages, costs, expenses and claims arising out of or relating to the entrant’s participation in this contest or the Prizes.  In the event that the potential winners fail to sign such form, he or she will be deemed to have forfeited the Prize, and an alternative potential winner will be selected as per the method stated above.

  5. Employees, officers, directors, representatives and agents of the real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods and their affiliated companies and their respective franchisees and their promotional agents, and contest judges as well as those with whom such persons are domiciled, are not eligible. By entering, each entrant agrees to abide by the contest rules and to the decisions of the real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods which are final and binding in all respects.  All entries become the property of the real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods and none will be returned.  The real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods and its affiliates and their respective franchisees shall have the right at their option to publish the winner’s name or to use the winner’s name, address, photograph and/or video image for marketing and/or promotional purposes, without compensation, unless otherwise prohibited by law.  No correspondence or communication will be entered into except with a selected entrant. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws, and all applicable local, state, provincial, federal or international taxes, duties or fees are the sole responsibility of each winner and will be paid by the winner.

  6. The real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods reserves the right in its absolute discretion to modify or withdraw this contest at any time, in whole or in part, without prior notification, for any reason.
